Monticello Man Charged With Shoplifting In Nanuet

Police: 56-year-old later turned over to police upstate on warrant.

A Monticello man is charged with petty larceny in connection with the theft of about $200 worth of merchandise from the store in Nanuet, according to Clarkstown police.

The arrest of Frank Brown, 56, at about 12:10 p.m. Saturday also revealed he was wanted by police in Monticello.

Police said store security workers reported they saw Brown take items from a store display, put them in a bag and then attempt to leave the store without paying. When confronted, police said Brown fled the store.

Brown was found a short time later on Route 59 and arrested on charges of petty larceny and possession of stolen property. Brown, who faces a hearing in Clarkstown Town Court in New City on Jan. 30, was turned over to Monticello police later in the day.
