Nanuet Business to Celebrate 1-year Anniversary

One year. That’s an important milestone for any business. Clem Yeboah is looking forward to celebrating his 1-year anniversary since opening up 1040 ATAX: Accounting & Financial Services on Main Street in Nanuet last year.

ATAX offers tax preparation, accounting, complete payroll and business start-up services.

Yeboah, who is the CFO of the franchise, has worked with individuals as well as organizations, specifically non-profits like churches.

“I teach tax preparation. I run seminars here for tax preparers who need to be in compliance and current with IRS standings,” he said. ATAX has about 40 locations and is similar to H&R Block.

Yeboah, 60, was instrumental in getting the new Greater Nanuet Chamber of Commerce off the ground. He is currently the treasurer of the chamber.

This Chestnut Ridge resident is celebrating his business’ 1-year anniversary with a celebration on Wednesday, Dec. 5 from noon – 4 p.m.

“It’s a meet and greet open house,” he said. “Come talk about our services, ourselves and what we’re doing for the community.”

Before ATAX

“As an accountant, I’ve done consulting work for fortune companies … doing information technology consulting. The last work I did was for Verizon for five years helping them set up financial systems,” he said. Other companies he’s worked with includes Metlife and Edna.

“Why did I chuck all that aside and come here to ATAX? I think it’s a way to give back to small start up companies

My expertise allows me to show them how to structure themselves to stay within the IRS regulations because one of the biggest things that can kill a company is running a foul IRS regulation. Some of my seminars here teach how to satisfy those regulations.”

Anyone can attend his seminars although they are geared toward entrepreneurs.

“In this economy where people have lost jobs, they need to find a way to start up as their own boss. As your own boss you can never be fired. The idea is to create a new generation of entrepreneurs. They know how to be an employee but now they need how to be an employer.

During his seminars, he teaches record keeping, marketing, pricing, learn about the labor market, who should you hire, how much should you pay them, who’s entitled to overtime, etc …

“There’s a whole set of skills they need to learn. In addition to that, there’s a new social media … (that can be used) as a way of propelling your business forward.”
