Nanuet Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary Hosts Annual Tricky Tray
The event raises money for the auxiliary
The Nanuet Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary held its annual Tricky Tray event Saturday evening.
Lisa Jacobson, a three-time past president of the auxiliary and chair of the event, said the group has put it on for more than 30 years. What’s different this year is that Saturday was the first of two Tricky Tray events. It’s normally always held in October, but this year the group decided to do it twice, and decided to hold the other in April.
The event saw about 120 people come to the Nanuet fire house, and boxes are passed around, each with a gift and an empty can inside. If the person looking at the box is interested in the gift, they put a raffle ticket into the can, and the prize was then raffled off.
“The ladies all donate gifts, and then we solicit retailers and stores for donations to raffle off,” Jacobson said.
On Saturday, more than 50 gifts were raffled off, ranging from gift certificates to local stores or restaurants to candle gift baskets to a funnel cake maker to Rockland Boulder tickets. There were also a lot of toys and games that drew interest from the many kids in attendance. The event also featured some signed sports memorabilia and a 50/50.
