Nanuet Girl Scouts Wash Cars for a Great Cause

The line of cars was non-stop

Postponing their original car wash date from June 11 to June 18 was a good choice because instead of a cloudy and rainy fundraiser, the sky was clear and the sun was shining.

“We’re doing this for a good cause for a new playground,” said troops 40583 and 40086. “It’s working really great.” The fourth-grade girl scouts held a car wash fundraiser for the Highview Playground Rebuilding project. They also had a bake and drink sale.

“Some of the girls are earning a badge today as well as raising money for the playground to help purchase equipment for the playground,” said Kathy Urzi, leader of troop 40208.

Representatives from the playground were also there selling playground t-shirts.

“It’s a beautiful day and the line of cars hasn’t stopped,” said Krista Vasti, design chair of the playground committee. “The girl scouts are doing a great job.”

Everyone in the community came out from families and community members to teachers and business owners.

“I wanted to help because we, my family, helped build the first playground,” said Teacher Sue Vasquez. “My daughters were girl scouts as well and I was a girl scout too so it’s perfect.”
