Nanuet Man Injured in NJ Motorcycle Crash Sunday
Breaking: The 69-year-old man was not wearing an approved motorcycle helmet and suffered "moderate" injuries, police said.

NANUET, NY — A Nanuet man is in a New Jersey hospital Monday after he lost control of his motorcycle and was thrown from the bike in Manchester on Sunday, police said.
Thomas G. Pelletier, 69, was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River for treatment of what police said were moderate, non-life threatening injuries sustained in the accident, which happened about 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, Manchester Lt. James Komsa said.
The investigation revealed Pelletier was riding a 1999 Harley Davidson FLS west on Route 530 when he tried to make a left turn into the Whiting Memorial Park and hit a patch of loose gravel, Komsa said. Pelletier lost control of the bike, which then hit the curb near the entrance, he said. The motorcycle then hit the concrete sign near the entrance to the cemetery, which caused Pelletier to be thrown from the motorcycle, Komsa said.

Komsa said it was later learned that Pelletier was not wearing a DOT-approved motorcycle helmet at the time of the collision.
The crash remains under investigation by Patrolman Ian Bole of the Manchester Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit. Quality Medical Transport assisted at the scene, Komsa said.
