Nanuet Volunteer Firefighters Rescue 2 Trapped In Wrecked Car
Driver, passenger injured in two-car crash on Route 304 in Nanuet.
A driver and passenger trapped in their wrecked car on Route 304 Saturday night were rescued by Nanuet volunteer firefighters, who had to cut open the car to get the injured pair to safety.
The two-car crash at around 6:40 p.m. closed Route 304 just north of West Nyack Road as Clarkstown police, Nanuet Fire Department, Nanuet Ambulance Corps and Rockland Paramedics crews assisted victims of the crash.
Nanuet Fire Chief A.J. Knapp said the crash left the occupants of a Nissan stuck in the car, with the driver's leg caught and the passenger having suffered a head injury. Knapp said firefighters used hydraulic cutting and prying tools to open the car so that the occupants could get medical care.

Knapp said firefighters were able to get the car opened in a few minutes.
The driver of the second car in the crash did not appear injured. Debris from the crash was scattered over Route 304.

Nanuet Fire Department had about 20 volunteers at the scene of the crash, which was cleared in about 45 minutes.
