Nanuet Woman Charged with DWI After Accident

Jeep hit utility pole, knocking down wires on Second Avenue in Nanuet.

A 20-year-old Nanuet woman was charged with drunken driving after the Jeep she was driving hit a utility pole on Second Avenue in Nanuet, according to Clarkstown police.

The accident brought down wires from the utility police about 12:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Clarkstown police officers interviewed Jenny Cayo, 20, of Nanuet, after the Jeep was driving struck a utility pole in a one-car accident. Police said Cayo appeared to be intoxicated and she then failed field sobriety tests.

Cayo was taken to Clarkstown Police Headquarters in New City, where police said she failed a chemical breath test for alcohol.  Cayo was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and later released pending a hearing Wednesday in Clarkstown Town Court in New City.
