Nanuet Woman Dies After Being Struck By Car On Route 59
No charges filed against 17-year-old driver from Valley Cottage in Nanuet accident.

A 34-year-old Nanuet woman died after she was struck by a car Monday night as she crossed on to Route 59 in Nanuet, according to Clarkstown police.
The pedestrian, Dansi Nolasco-Jimenez of Church Street, was struck about 7:10 p.m. west of College Avenue by a 2006 Toyota driven by a 17-year-old girl from Valley Cottage. Police said the driver has not been cited for any violations.
After interviews with the driver and her passenger, police said the incident appears to be an accident. The driver told police that there was no one on the road as she pulled out of the near Middletown Road but that the pedestrian, wearing dark clothing, stepped into the right traffic lane as the car approached.

The driver told police she could not avoid the pedestrian.
The Clarkstown police accident investigation unit was called to probe the incident and had portions of eastbound Route 59 closed Monday night.

Police are uncertain where Nolasco-Jimenez was going when she was struck. Her family was notified of her death.
Members of Nanuet Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Rockland Paramedics assisted at the scene of the accident.
