Nanuet Woman Found Dead In Driveway Accident This Morning
She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics
Clarkstown Police received a call around 6:50 a.m. Wednesday for an accident on Crabapple lane in Nanuet. A Nanuet resident, 79, was found dead in the driveway by a neighbor.
Clare Turchin was pronounced dead at the scene by the paramedics. She was found crushed by her car that rolled down her driveway.
“What appears to have happened is that she didn't put the car into park,” said Sgt. Harry Baumann. “She left it in drive, got out and evidently the car knocked her down and she went under the tire.”

Baumann said that this happened last night probably between 11 p.m. and midnight and a neighbor discovered Turchin this morning and called the police.
"A neighbor was supposed to pick her up and take her to the bus and bring her to her daughters, I believe, and when she went over, she saw her (Turchin),” said Baumann. “We called a tow truck to lift the car off her and the medical examiner took the body.”
