Nearby News: State Police say Drunk Driver Crashed into State Police Car while Trooper was Processing Drunk Driver

The officer and the first driver were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. a New York State Police Trooper stopped a vehicle on Interstate 87 southbound at 11:59 p.m. Nov. 8 that was driven by Stefone L. Dreher, 43, of Bronx, NY.

The officer observed that Dreher appeared to be intoxicated—he subsequently failed field sobriety tests.

As the officer awaited a tow truck to remove Dreher’s vehicle a second vehicle struck the police car and then struck Dreher’s vehicle.

Police say that the operator of the second vehicle, James A. Felter, 31, of Catskill, NY was also intoxicated.

The officer and Dreher were both transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Felter refused medical treatment at the scene and was taken to SP Albany where he provided a breath sample of 0.16% BAC, twice the legal limit.

Dreher and Felter were charged with driving while intoxicated and are both scheduled to be in New Baltimore Town Court on Nov. 18..
