Police Blotter: Neighbor Dispute Lands Man In Jail; 2 Woman Charged With Shoplifting

Police: Pick up truck used to damage property.

A 50-year-old Stony Point man who has a long-running feud with a neighbor  was ordered held in the county jail on charges that he damaged his neighbor's property with a pick up truck, according to Stony Point police.

David Williams of 9 Elm Ave., Tomkins Cove, is accused of third-degree criminal mischief, a felony, and second-degree harassment, as result of a 2 a.m. incident on Thursday. Police said Williams is accused of screaming "I'm going to kill you" at a neighbor at 340 N. Liberty Drive and then driving a Ford pick up onto the neighbor's property.

Police said a picnic table and a wooden wall were damaged in the incident. The incident, police said, is part of a long-standing dispute between the two men — although police are uncertain what the dispute is about.

Williams turned himself into the Stony Point Police Department to be arrested. He was arraigned before Judge William F. Franks, who ordered Williams be held in the Rockland County Correctional Facility in New City pending a hearing Monday in Stony Point Town Court. Police said Williams is well-known to local law enforcement because of numerous previous arrests, and he most-recently had been incarcerated becasue of a drunken driving incident.

Two 20-year-old woman are accused of petty larceny in connection with the theft of $450 worth of merchandise from a Nanuet department store, according to Clarkstown Police.

Maria Ljuljdjuraj, 20, of New City and Michelle Yankay, 20, of Orangeburg were arrested Wednesday after security staff at the Kohl’s store on Route 59 reported a shoplifting incident. Police said the women were seen putting store items in their pocketbooks at about 4:30 p.m. and then attempt to leave Kohl’s without paying for the items.

After being charged with petty larceny and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, police said the women were released pending a March 14 hearing in Clarkstown Town Court in New City.
