O&R: Nanuet Power Shut Off For Safety Reasons
The outage affected a little over 3,000 customers

According to Orange & Rockland Utilities, power was shut off to 3,155 customers in Nanuet, New City and Spring Valley for safety reasons from approximately 9:47 to 10:32 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Mike Donovan of O&R said a contractor for Verizon hit a gas line while working in front of 16 New Clarkstown Road in Nanuet, forcing O&R to turn off the power for customers as repairs were begun.

The line damaged was not a gas main, but a pipe between the main and one building.
