Police Allege Funeral Home Manager Stole $400,000 from Clients, Business
Donald Cranston is the former general manager of T.J. McGowan and Sons in Haverstraw.

Donald Cranston, 51, faces a charge of second-degree grand larceny.
The New York State Police and the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office concluded a six-month investigation with the Haverstraw man’s arrest Sept. 3.
The investigation began at the request of Cranston’s former employer, Foundation Partners, police said.

Police say that Cranston, as General Manager of T.J. McGowan and Sons Funeral Home in Haverstraw, deposited payments directly into in his personal bank account to the amount of more than $400,000 from unsuspecting customers for services conducted by the business.
The investigation found that the funeral home did provide all services as promised in customer agreements.
Cranston was arraigned before the Town of Haverstraw Justice Court and released after posting bail. He is scheduled to return to town court on Sept. 11.
