Police Blotter: DWI Charged In ATV Crash, Another Arrest In Vandalism Probe

Man indicted for possession of stun gun; Upstate man indicted in discovery of two pounds of marijuana in car.

An Airmont man was charged with drunken driving Monday after he drove an unregistered ATV on a Stony Point street and was seriously injured in a crash, according to Stony Point police.

Jesse C. Weyant, 39, of 11 Hidden Valley Drive, Airmont, was taken to Nyack Hospital for treatment. Police said Weyant was intoxicated and operating the unregistered ATV in a reckless manner on Blanchard Road.

Police said Weyant was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and was also issued traffic tickets. He faces a March 1 hearing in Stony Point Town Court.

Vandalism investigation

Another youth has been charged in connection with a string of vandalism incidents that hit Stony Point in 2011, according to Stony Point police.

An 18-year-old male arrested on Monday is charged with criminal mischief as a result of an on-going investigation, police said. He faces a Feb. 14 hearing in Stony Point Town Court.

Two Pounds of Marijuana Found

A Kingston, NY, man has been indicted by a Rockland County grand jury in New City on charges that he had about two pounds of marijuana in a car that was stopped by police on the New York State Thruway in Clarkstown.

Robert J. Robinson, 42, of 48 Pine St., Kingston, was arrested Oct. 20, 2011 at 11:45 p.m. after the car he was driving was stopped for a traffic violation. Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe said a search of the car led to the discovery of the marijuana.

Robinson is charged with second-degree criminal possession of marijuana.

Stun Gun Found In Car

A Spring Valley man found with a working stun gun has been indicted by a Rockland County grand jury in New City on a charge of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, according to the Rockland County District Attorney's Office.

Ralph Rempart, 23, of 70 Twin Ave., was arrested Aug. 9, 2011, after police questioned him about an investigation. District Attorney Thomas Zugibe said Rempart was a sitting in the passenger seat of a car in the driveway of 70 Twin Ave. when a police officer saw the stun gun next to his leg.

A test of the stun gun showed it was in working condition, Zugibe said.
