Police Blotter: Two More Cars Hit As Auto Break-Ins Continue In Nanuet

DWI charged, arrest in domestic dispute.

Two cars were affected Friday by the continuing rash of vehicle break-ins in the Nanuet area, according to Clarkstown police.

An iPad tablet computer was stolen from an unlocked car at B&M Cosmetics on Route 59 between 4:40 and 4:45 p.m. The car was not damaged, police said.

In an incident at Planet Fitness on Demarest Mill Road, a window was smashed on a car, but nothing was taken.

Since November 2011, Clarkstown police have been working on finding those responsible for a wave of car break-ins that has stretched to New City, Bardonia and West Nyack.

A Stony Point man pulled over by police on Saturday is charged with being a repeat drunken driver, according to Stony Point police.

Randall Gooler, 54, of 93 Grassy Point Road, was found to be intoxicated when he was questioned, police said. When Gooler was arrested, police said they found that he had previously been convicted of driving while intoxicated within the past 10 years, making the current DWI charge a felony.

Gooler was released pending a March 1 hearing in Stony Point Town Court.

Arrest after domestic dispute

A Stony Point man is accused of third-degree criminal mischief, a felony, in connection with a domestic dispute, according to Stony Point police.

Karl Lamerique, 25, of 23 Dunderberg Road, was arrested Sunday and accused of intentionally damaging his girlfriend’s cell phone, police said. During the investigation, police said Lamerique was also found with a quantity of marijuana.

Lamerique was released on $500 bail pending a hearing Tuesday in Stony Point Town Court.
