Police ID Man in Fatal Feb. 18 Crash on Route 59

A medical condition suffered by the driver, a Central Nyack resident, may have been a factor.

The driver of a 2004 Hummer who apparently lost control on Route 59 in West Nyack yesterday was Emmanuel Estriplet of Central Nyack.

Clarkstown police said Estriplet, 56, died at Nyack Hospital after the 1-car accident at 12:35 p.m. near Larch Court.

Police said there was one passenger in the Hummer, Marie Cherimond, 55. She was treated for minor injuries at Nyack Hospital.

Estriplet and Cherimond were friends who lived in the same area of Central Nyack.

Police said preliminary information raises the possibility that a medical condition suffered by the driver was a factor which led to the vehicle veering off the roadway, striking a snow bank and then overturning.
