
A Nanuet man was accused of drunken driving Sunday after his car was stopped by police for moving erratically, according to the Rockland County Sheriff's Department.
Richard Birnie, 38, was stopped on South Airmont Road in Airmont and was found to be intoxicated, police said. He was taken to the Sheriff's Headquarters in New City and later released pending a hearing in Airmont Village Court.
Birnie is accused of driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor, which cites a blood alcohol content of .18 percent or more, police said.
