Police: Trio Held In County Jail Over Thefts From Donation Bins In Nanuet

L.I. men arrested after Clarkstown police get tip about possible stolen clothing.

Three Long Island men equipped with a commercial truck are accused of stealing the contents of three clothing donation bins in Nanuet, according to Clarkstown police.

Town police received a tip that donated clothing was being illicitly removed from donation bins in the parking lot of the Nanuet Stop & Shop store off Middletown Road. A town officer on patrol in the area spotted a box-style truck near the bins and stopped the three men with the truck for questioning.

Police said the contents of the bins were taken without authority and all three men were arrested on charges of petty larceny. The contents of the donation bins were recovered, however, police said they could not determine the monetary value of the contents.
