Police: Woman Drove Drunk With Child In Car

Donna Weldon of Congers was arrested for driving while intoxicated with a child under 16 years old in the vehicle.

A Congers woman was busted for driving while intoxicated with a child in her vehicle after rear-ending another vehicle, said Clarkstown Police. 

Clarkstown police responded to a report of a minor accident at Middletown Road at the intersection of West Clarkstown Road in Nanuet on Saturday at approximately 1 p.m.

Police said Donna Weldon, 45, from Congers, was driving a 2007 Hyundai north on Middletown Road when she rear-ended a 1991 Pontiac. A child under the age of 16 was in Weldon's car at the time. There were no injuries resulting from the accident.

Weldon's breath smelled like alcohol and failed field sobriety tests, according to police. The suspect was then transported to Clarkstown Police Headquarters where she submitted to and failed a breathalyzer test. Results from a urine test are pending. 

Weldon was charged with one count of aggravated driving while intoxicated with a passenger less than 16 (felony), one count aggravated driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol concentration greater than .18 (misdemeanor), driving while ability impaired by combined influence of drugs and alcohol, driving while intoxicated (common law), and endangering the welfare of a child (all misdemeanors).

Weldon is currently being held for arraignment.
