Probe Continues After Arrest In Auto Center Burglary

Clarkstown, Spring Valley, Ramapo and Orangetown police and the Rockland County Crime Analysis Unit are conducting a joint investigation.

NANUET, NY — A Spring Valley man is in custody after a police investigation into the burglary of an auto center in Nanuet. The investigation is continuing into other burglaries that occurred with the same modus operandi.

The investigation is being conducted jointly by the Clarkstown Police Department, Spring Valley Police Department, Ramapo Police Department, Orangetown Police Department and the Rockland County Crime Analysis Unit. (Sign up for Patch’s Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts.)

Robert McDonald, 60, of Spring Valley was taken into custody by the Clarkstown Police Department at 7:45 p.m. Jan. 21.

Police allege that he forcibly gained access into the Duluc Auto Center located on N. Middletown Rd by smashing a garage bay window. He entered the building and exited with an unspecified amount of money.

McDonald was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters for processing. He was charged with burglary 3rd (felony) and criminal mischief 4th (misdemeanor).

He was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court. He was sent to Rockland County Jail. McDonald will return to court on Jan. 26.
