PTA Treasurer Arrested for Larceny
New York State Police say she took more than $5,000 from the Circleville Middle School PTA in Orange County.

New York State Police arrested Lysa M. Mercado-Gonzalez, 43, of Middletown, NY, for Grand Larceny in the third degree, five counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument in the second degree, and Falsifying Business Records in the first degree.
Mercado-Gonzalez surrendered to the State Police Sept. 25, after an investigation. It is alleged that she was responsible for stealing money from the Circleville Middle School Parent Teacher’s Association. Mercado-Gonzalez is accused of stealing $5,139.55 over a two-year period while she was the Treasurer for the PTA.
She was arraigned in the Town of Wallkill Court and sent to Orange County Jail in lieu of $5,139.55 cash bail or $20,000 secured bond.
