9/11 Memorial Garden, RCC Academic Quad
RCC's Memorial Garden includes a sculpture – Spirit Rising by Eric David Laxman – made with steel salvaged from the Ground Zero remains of the World Trade Center site in New York City. The garden also includes benches and a powerful inscription of the 9/11 poem “Out of the Blue” by Dan Masterson, Rockland County's poet laureate and a professor emeritus at RCC, where he taught English for some 50 years. Saplings nurtured from the WTC Survivor Tree are planted nearby.
