UPDATE: Red Cross Assisting Family Of 7 Affected By Early-Morning Fire In Nanuet

Red Cross volunteers were at the scene of a fire that occurred early this morning on Pipetown Hill Road in Nanuet to provide humanitarian assistance to those affected. 

So far, two adults and five children are getting assistance, according to the Red Cross.

The fire at 129 Pipetown Hill Rd. was reported at about 6 a.m.

Michael de Vulpillieres of the Red Cross said there four volunteers from the agency who responded to the incident to assist those affected at the multi-family dwelling. He said only one of three units were left uninhabitable as a result of the fire. 

de Vulpillieres said the family that was displaced from that unit consisted of two adults and five children — ages 2 months, 1½, 3, 5 and 8 years old.  He said they did not require Red Cross housing but they were provided with emergency funds for food and clothing.

The cause of the fire was uncertain. Volunteers from the Spring Valley Fire Department extinguished the fire.
