Report of Car Break-ins at the Fairway in Nanuet

A New City man was arrested.

At 6 p.m. July 27 a witness outside the Fairway Market on Route 59 told Clarkstown police that a young man was attempting to get into cars parked in the lot .

A short distance away, police stopped a man matching the description they had been given.

After positive identification was made, Matthew Davidowicz, 24, of New City, was arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing. During the investigation, police determined that Davidowicz used a credit card taken from a car to make a purchase.

He was charged with falsifying business records 1st (felony) and criminal possession of stolen property 5th (misdemeanor). He was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court.

Bail was set at $5,000 and Davidowicz was taken to the Rockland County Jail. He is due back in court July 30.
