Rest Home Residents Displaced by Sprinkler Break

The fire sprinkler system broke -- in the attic of the facility in Nanuet.

At 4 p.m. Feb. 15, Clarkstown police were called to the Spring Valley Rest Home on South Pascack Road in Nanuet on a report of flooding in the residence.

What they found was that the rest home’s fire sprinkler system water pipe broke in the attic, causing major flooding within the structure.

The Clarkstown Building Department and the fire inspector responded to the scene and a determination was made to move the residents as the building was unsafe.

The Clarkstown Mini Trans system moved 31 residents to the Golden Acres facility in Monsey. There were no injuries reported and a determination of the status of the building will be a decision by the building department and the owner of the rest home.
