Road Rage Caused Horrific Crash: News Report

Ramapo's interim supervisor told The Journal News the driver apparently drove onto the shoulder to cut off a taxi; didn't see the family.

Ramapo Interim Supervisor Yitzhcok Ullman said the driver who is accused of critically injuring a mother and three children Tuesday was filled with road rage at the time, according to The Journal News.

Albert Gomez, 62, allegedly believed a taxi had cut him off on Route 59 and swerved onto the shoulder to cut the cab off from the right, TJN reported. He didn't see the woman pushing the stroller or her two daughters also walking next to the busy highway. Gomez, a Spring Valley resident, faces two counts of second-degree assault, felonies; and two counts of third-degree assault, four of second-degree reckless endangerment and one of reckless driving, all misdemeanors.

Ullman said the mother and daughters were recovering but the 3-month-old baby was not doing well.
