Rockland Man Convicted Over Back-to-Back Attacks on Ex-Girlfriend

In the first, her friend's car window was smashed with a bat. She was injured in the second, a drive-by shooting shortly afterward.

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — A Spring Valley man has been convicted of attempted murder and assault over back-to-back attacks on his ex-girlfriend, her mother and a friend. His ex was seriously wounded in the second attack. Jonathan McNeil was arrested in 2016 and convicted today, Rockland County District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe announced.

McNeil, 33, was also convicted of Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree and Criminal Mischief.

“The crimes of which the defendant has been convicted were cold, calculated and violent, and resulted in an innocent woman being seriously wounded," Zugibe said. "I hope the victim and all of those involved in the shooting will find some degree of solace in the conviction and in the knowledge that the defendant will spend many years in prison.”
