Rockland Woman Faces Heroin-Dealer, Driving Charges

SUFFERN, NY — A Rockland woman faces felony and misdemeanor charges after police said she was found with 100 packets of heroin. They had originally been looking for her for a completely different reason.
On Sunday, Ramapo Police arrested 22-year-old Esther Zamir of Monsey, New York for unauthorized use of a vehicle, a class A misdemeanor. Zamir had been operating the vehicle of a person known to her, without permission, and charges had been signed against her earlier in the day. The victim observed Zamir operating the vehicle and called police to the scene, where she was subsequently arrested.
Further investigation at the scene led the officer to charge her with DWAI drugs. Ms. Zamir was found to be in possession of approximately 100 “decks” of herion, a quantity of marijuana and hypodermic needles, which led to additional charges of 2 counts of Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree, 1 count of Possession of Hypodermic needle, and 1 count of unlawful possession of marijuana.

Zamir was arraigned at the Wesley Hills Justice Court by Judge Schnelwar and released without bail. due back in court Tuesday.
