Too close to call the fourth race for Clarkstown Board of Education

CLARKSTOWN

On the budget, the vote was:

Seven candidates were on the ballot for four spots on the Board of Education. Here are the unofficial results:

Tamara Bierker: 3,009

George Ballane: 2,485

Michael Aglialoro: 2,071

Wendy Adolff: 1,948

Zizette Deutsch: 1,946

Matthew Spool: 1,550

Christian Jauntig: 1,237

District officials issued this statement:

Thank you to all Clarkstown voters for your overwhelming support of the school district. The school budget passed today by more than 79%.

The candidates who have secured three year terms are Tamara Bierker and George Ballane. Mike Aglialoro has been reelected to another three year term.

The results for the fourth candidate that will serve a one year term is too close to call at this time. There are sixteen affidavits that need to be validated and then counted by the Rockland County Board of Elections before the winning candidate can be confirmed.

The District thanks all of the candidates for their participation and support of our students.

NANUET

On the budget, the ‘yes’ vote was 432 and the ‘no’ vote was 153.

The library budget was also approved.

Three incumbents were returned to the Board of Education:

  • Christine Camillieri 441
  • Sarah Chauncey 418
  • Ed Dingman 370
  • Scott Walters 234


NYACK

Incumbents Karen Hughes and Dan Kaplan ran unopposed and were returned to the Board of Education.

Voters approved the creation of a capital reserve fund.

Voters overwhelmingly approved the spending plan, by a vote of 565 ‘yes’ and 142 ‘no.’

PEARL RIVER

Voters overwhelmingly approved the budget:

Yes-1,644

No-352

The two trustees running for re-election, Jackie Curtiss and Bruce Bond, were unopposed on the ballot. According to unofficial results, Curtiss received 1,621 votes and Bond received 950.

A write-in campaign for Denise Finnegan-Schorn came close. According tounofficial results from the Stop Anellotech Facebook page, she received 767 write-in votes.

Voters also OK’d a plan to use money from the capital reserve fund for renovations and repairs at Pearl River High School, by a vote of ‘yes’ and 207 ‘no.’

SOUTH ORANGETOWN

Voters approved the budget

Yes: 1,152

No: 219
