The Red Cross opened a reception center Friday night at the Spring Valley Police Department, said spokeswoman Caroline Sherwin. Volunteers also met over the weekend with the six families — 11 adults and five children — who were made homeless.

"All families were provided funds for emergency relocation/lost personals, referrals with our community partners," she said in an email. "As of yesterday our caseworkers have been in contact with the families assisting them with further needs."
