Summer Improvements For Nanuet School District
Patch sat down with Rudy Villanyi the Facilities Director for the Nanuet School District to find out what had been improved over the summer months for this school year.

Nanuet schools started back up last week and while everyone was off and enjoying their summer, the school district was busy making all sorts of improvements to its buildings. In order to get the run-down on all of it, Patch sat down with Rudy Villanyi the Facilities Director for the Nanuet School District.
“It was a busy summer, but it was a good summer,” said Villanyi.
The scope of the summer work done to Nanuet’s educational assets is quite impressive and included a bevy of different projects.

“Some of the maintenance projects include finishing painting the gym in the high school along with installing new padding; the floor was also refinished,” Villanyi said. “Some of the other projects at the high school included replacing the kitchen serving line and several retaining walls along the property.”
The middle school also saw improvements.

“In the middle school we did a carpet replacement for the computer room. We did tile replacement and abatement. We also did some miscellaneous painting,” said Villanyi. “There was a computer replacement done as well throughout the school.”
Finally, there were improvements made at the two elementary schools as well.
“At Miller Elementary school we replaced two kitchen serving lines. We also replaced counters and sinks in several classrooms. There was also some painting throughout the building,” noted Villanyi. “Finally in Highview we did a lot of painting. There was an area that used to be called the Old Rasp room. We’ve been renovating those and putting in new doors and ventilation.”
Just because the school year has started does not mean that the improvements around the school district are coming to an end. In fact there are a series of ongoing projects that will continue into the school year.
“The one major project that we have in progress is that we’re replacing the interior doors,” added Villanyi. “Last year we did the exterior doors. That’s going on at the high school and Miller Elementary school. The other big project that has been in progress is a performance contract. That’s with Siemens. What we’re doing with them is automation with heating and ventilation. It also involves a lighting program, replacement of electric motors, insulations of piping, and doors and windows. What’s more, we’re bringing the high school bleachers up to ADA standards.”
So as the school years gets into full swing, Villanyi and his team will remain busy making sure the school district is at its best.
