Sunday: Wave a Flag for Nanuet Marine

Stand by the side of the road and wave an American flag as this Nanuet resident travels to Albany to be sworn in as a U.S. Marine

Nanuet's got a lot to be proud of. On Sunday, July 8, Thomas Hanney of Nanuet is heading to Albany to be sworn in as a United States Marine.

He'll be leaving from his home on Edsall Avenue with his parents at 10:40 a.m. The route they'll take is to Sherwood Drive and getting on the Thruway from there.

The Hanneys are asking the community to step out to the curb with an American flag, good luck sign or just a wave to show support.

Tommy is already a hometown hero for his leadership as the captain and quarterback of the Nanuet football team in 2009 when Nanuet made it to the NYS championship game, according to the Hanneys.
