Sunken Ship Pulled out of Nyack Bay

Alas, no treasure, points out the Nyack Free Press.

The Marine Unit of the Rockland County Sheriff’s Department discovered last month that there was an old wreck in Nyack Bay.

With the help of a private company, the U.S. Coast Guard has now dredged it up, the Nyack Free Press reports.

It is an old tug boat; and based on the Hudson River biota growing on it, it had been in the river a long time, the Sheriff’s Office told Nyack Free Press Editor Bill Demarest.

Officials fear the tug was leaking fuel into the Hudson River; it was also a navigation hazard, the Nyack Free Press reported.
