Police arrested a Nanuet man and a Yonkers man in separate incidents.

Orangetown police report the arrests of two people on petty larceny charges in separate incidents at local supermarkets.

Stephen Everinghim, 74, of Nanuet is due in Orangetown court April 12 to answer a charge of petty larceny. Employees at the ShopRite in Pearl River alleged that on March 28 he was seen taking items from around the store and secreted them, then tried to leave without paying.

Vincent Didavide, 52, of Yonkers, was arrested March 28 on a warrant. Police said that on a prior date Didavide was at Stop and Shop in Orangeburg. Employees there alleged that he manipulated the bottle recycling machine to produce false receipts that could be turned in for cash. He was arraigned and taken to Rockland County Jail.
