This day in Clarkstown history ...

On this day in 1972, the town board met to pass a new water treatment program.

Councilman and Deputy Supervisor William Niehaus called to order a town board meeting at 1:30pm August 25, 1972.

The town board meeting approved of Councilman Lodico's resolution for treatment facilities to adequately treat the town's waste discharges. Lodico's resolution also authorized Niehaus to plan, construct, maintain and operate these facilities to keep receiving waters clean. This is all part of the town's Pure Waters program.

The lease agreement between the Town of Clarkstown and the Palisades Park Commission was tabled and the meeting ended with Lodico given authorization to hire personnel and equipment for the treatment facilities.
