The All Star tournament is a series of games including about 13 local teams made up of the best players from each league. The ultimate goal is to make it to the Little League World Series Championship.
All-star practice began following the spring little league season. With an intense four days per week practice schedule, the boys were ready to take on their first competitor.
Game one was against the East Ramapo Little League All Stars. Nanuet shut them out 6-0.

Credit for the win was consistent pitching and a strong hitting attack. Michael Castello started the game pitching. He pitched four innings followed by Steven Lanoce and Michael McPadden who closed out the pitching.
"This was the first time in years that a 12 year old All Star team from Nanuet has won their first two games in the District 18 Tournament," said head coach Ken Price.
The second game they played was against Pearl River, a big Nanuet rival and a huge win for the team.
"The Pearl River game was great in that we were losing the whole game and scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a nine to eight lead. The kids were very excited since Pearl River is their biggest rival and has beaten us in little league tournaments for years. Beating Pearl River is a game the boys will remember for a long time," said Price.
Highlights of the game was a home run hit by Steve Lanoce and a game winning hit by Dan O'Sullivan. Chris van Schiack did well on the mound and closed the game by initiating a 1-6-3 double play to wrap up the game described by Coach Price.
Unfortunately the winning streak didn't continue and they lost to Ramapo, then Haverstraw. The losses eliminated the team from going any further in the tournament. Michael Castello gave it his all and pitched at least four great innings against Ramapo and got the only hit of the game against Haverstraw.
Well done All-Stars! Best of luck with your future baseball careers.
