UPDATE: Fatal Hit-and-Run Sunday on the NY Thruway
The right lane southbound in Rockland County was temporarily closed for accident reconstruction.

UPDATE: The New York State Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred on the New York State Thruway in Rockland County.
On Sunday morning, at about 4 a.m. Paul Peacock, 54, was stuck by an unknown vehicle, most likely a tractor trailer, while walking on the NY State Thruway southbound near the Ramapo Rest Area.
It is unclear why Peacock, a New York City resident, was walking on the Thruway at the time of the collision and the vehicle involved failed to stop at the accident scene.

The Investigation is ongoing and anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has information is asked to contact the NY State Police at (845) 364-9424.
ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY – State police were dispatched at 4:02 a.m. Sunday to investigate a serious injury accident which involved a vehicle striking a pedestrian in the area of I-87, (southbound) near the Ramapo Service Area, in the Village of Sloatsburg.

The accident is currently being reconstructed by the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) and is still under investigation.
