Tonight: RCC TV and Video Festival
It's at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 4 at Rockland Community College

Come see RCC’s version of the Academy Awards for free. Wednesday, May 4 is Rockland Community College’s Fourth Annual TV Video Festival. It will take place at the Cultural Arts Theater at 7 p.m.
Students at RCC, alumni and local high school students were invited to submit short films, animations, commercials and more. The films will be screened and prizes will be awarded for the winners chosen by media personnel and RCC Alumni. Entries had to be received by April 13.
"Over 60 submissions were received from RCC students, Alumni and high schools. BOCES, Clarkstown South, Nyack, Nanuet, Ramapo and Suffern high schools brought in over 30 submissions on their own." said Janice T. Goldstein, festival director. "It's great because they get to see their work on the screen. It's like Rockland's Oscars. We show 30 second clip montages of everyone's work and then the top three nominees of RCC's submissions in each category. The winner will recieve an Apple iPad. For the high schools, the top three overall films will be selected, winning Apple gift certificates. And the alumni winner will win an Apple iPod Touch."

The evening will be full of excitement as the tension mounts during the award ceremony. These awards are important, as they can be referred to later on when applying for jobs in the film industry. Plus, participants never know if someone with the right connection will be there and see something they like.
"We want to encourage all people to participate. It is a free event and a great experience. People get all dressed up and we even give Oscar trophies," said Goldstein.
