Tuesday Evening Commute Complications for Pascack Valley, Port Jervis Riders

The NJ Transit derailment continues to provide problems for Metro-North's West of Hudson riders.

The day after a NJ Transit train derailment in Penn Station caused havoc for commuters who use Penn Station's MTA train lines, Metro-North’s customers west of the Hudson River will have to deal with congestion and delays.

Riders of the Port Jervis Line and Pascack Valley Linewill have regular train schedules from Hoboken. But.

Metro-North advises customers that train service to Secaucus will be reduced in accordance with information released by NJ TRANSIT.

As a result, Metro-North’s Port Jervis Line and Pascack Valley Line who are departing from New York City are advised to ride PATH trains to Hoboken to connect with Port Jervis Line and Pascack Valley Line trains.

With extra NJ TRANSIT trains scheduled from Hoboken Terminal, Hoboken customers should expect congestion-related delays and plan extra time for travel.

The derailment was the second time in as many weeks. It left travel through Penn Station a commuter's nightmare. An NJ Transit train arriving at the terminal Monday morning left the track as it pulled into the station. The incident caused five non-life-threatening injuries, cancellations and major delays, not just for that provider.
