Unfounded Report of Shot Fired Keeps Highview Elementary Pupils Inside

The Clarkstown Police Department investigated a report of a possible shot fired at 10:38 AM in the area of Church Street and Highview Avenue in Nanuet.

As a precaution, the Highview Elementary School implemented a safety hold. That prohibits any outside activity for the students but the rest of their school schedule remains intact.

A check of the area and the building where the shot was reported to have been fired from was checked and cleared, police said.

The area has been deemed safe and the reported shot fired appears to be unfounded at this time, but the investigation will continue.

The safety hold has been lifted and some police presence remains in the area. Expect brief traffic delays transiting the area.
