UPDATE: Car Crashes Through Rockland Bakery

There were no injuries reported

On Tuesday, an elderly woman lost control of her car and hit the front of Rockland Bakery. Clarkstown Sgt. Harry Baumann said that the incident happened around noontime.

“Instead of stepping on the brakes, she stepped on the gas,” he said.

“As far I know, the elderly lady, she put it in drive instead of reverse. And then she probably panicked and floored it,” said Rockland Bakery Manager Sal Battaglia. “No injuries at all; she wasn’t hurt and there were no people around.”

After the accident, a sign was put up directing customers to use the deli entrance and as of today, the main entrance opened up again. The front is boarded up in the meantime.

“We’re hoping to get it fixed in a couple of weeks,” Battaglia said. “We’re still getting (damage) estimates.”
