Woman, 75, Shot With Pellet Gun: Clarkstown PD

A 62-year-old is accused of shooting her in the head in Nanuet.

At 8PM Thursday, the Clarkstown Police Department got a report that a man arguing with a woman had a possible pellet gun.

Officers responded to 100 Smith Road in Nanuet and saw a man in the hallway with what appeared to be a black handgun. They deployed their Taser to stop the suspect and disarm him.

After taking the man into custody, they determined that he had shot a woman in the head with the pellet gun he, in fact, had in his possession.

The victim, a 75-year-old Nanuet resident, had a puncture wound in her temple area. She was transported to Nyack Hospital for medical treatment of her non-life threatening injury.

Valeriy Sokolov, 62, of Nanuet, was arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing.

He was charged with Assault 2nd (felony), Menacing 2nd (misdemeanor), Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th (misdemeanor) and Harassment 2nd (violation). Sokolov is awaiting arraignment.
