Young Golfers Tee Off in TGA Tour Rockland

Children and teenagers ages 6-15 dislayed their talent at the beautiful Spook Rock Golf Course in Suffern on Tuesday. Total Golf Adventures (TGA) held the first of nine summer tournaments to take place throughout Rockland, Orange, Westchester, and Bergen Counties.  

TGA has been in Rockland for four years now, where coaches have taught aspiring golfers at 25 local elementary schools. This after school program teaches them proper techinque, while promoting a love for the game at a young age.

“The idea is for kids to meet people their own age who have the same interest in golf,” said Rockland and Westchester TGA Director Mark Thornewell.

This is the second year of the summer youth tournament, which has grown considerably over the past year.  The golfers were split up by age groups yesterday and also had coaches who aided them along the way.  All of the players put in enormous effort and received trophies at the end of their 9-hole course.  Here is the list of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners from each age group:
