15 Hurt In Roadway Crash At JFK Airport

The crash happened on the northbound Van Wyck Expressway exiting the airport toward the Belt Parkway at 5:20 a.m., officials told Patch.

QUEENS, NY — Fifteen people are hurt, one person seriously, following a roadway crash involving a Delta Airlines bus and a vehicle contracted by American Airlines at John F. Kennedy Airport early Friday morning, the Port Authority confirmed to Patch.

The crash unfolded on the northbound Van Wyck Expressway exiting the airport toward the Belt Parkway at 5:20 a.m, officials said.

The northbound Van Wyck lanes reopened at approximately 9:12 a.m.

"Due to a motor vehicle accident impacting traffic at JFK, we encourage everyone to utilize public transportation to and from the airport," the airport wrote in a tweet at 8:24 a.m.

In a statement shared with Patch Friday afternoon, a representative for American Airlines said “We are aware of a motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle contracted by American Airlines to transport customers from the airport to a hotel."
