NEW YORK CITY — New York City residents can now register to buy $50 tickets to select World Cup matches at MetLife Stadium.
The lottery opened on Monday and will reopen every morning at 10 a.m. until May 30. The lottery closes after the first 50,000 registrations.

Fans who get tickets will also receive free round-trip bus transportation to MetLife Stadium.
The tickets will be for five group-stage matches and two knockout-round matches.

According to the website, winners will be notified by email on June 3 and have 48 hours to buy up to two tickets.
"Those buying tickets may be asked to verify their identity and residency through official IDs, pay stubs, rental or mortgage agreements, recent utility bills," a message on the lottery website states.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani secured tickets following negotiations with FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
FIFA has faced criticism over its pricing for World Cup matches. The cheapest ticket to a group stage match is upwards of $500.
New Yorkers can enter the lottery beginning on May 25 at www.regnyctix.com, according to the Mayor's Office.
