TIME magazine's World's Greatest Places List released on Thursday features two notable locations in Manhattan.

NEW YORK CITY — Two New York City destinations have been ranked among the “World’s Greatest Places of 2026” by TIME magazine.

The Studio Museum in Harlem and the Frick Collection on the Upper East Side were ranked among 100 locations in TIME magazine's World’s Greatest Places List released on Thursday.

“Led by longtime director Thelma Golden, [The Studio Museum in Harlem] functions as both an archive and incubator for Black artists and Black culture," TIME Magazine editors wrote.

"Viewers will find works by trailblazers such as sculptor Elizabeth Catlett and photographer Gordon Parks sharing real estate with former artists-in-residence turned household names like Kehinde Wiley, Mickalene Thomas, and Kerry James Marshall.”

The Studio Museum, located at 144 West 125 St., reopened in November 2025 after seven years of construction.

On the Frick Collection, TIME highlighted its $220 million restoration designed by Selldorf Architects. Visitors now have access to an entirely new floor and can see the second-floor living quarters once occupied by Henry Clay, Adelaide Frick, and their daughter Helen Clay Frick.

The renovation also brings a new exhibition gallery, auditorium, education room, restaurant, coffee bar and the restored 70th Street Garden.

The annual list features hotels, cruises, restaurants, attractions, museums, parks and more.

Destinations were chosen from TIME's international network of correspondents and contributors, as well as through reader applications.

“Travel trends can shift quickly, of course, and global events can reshape itineraries. Yet the impulse to explore endures. At its best, travel is a bridge—an opportunity to encounter new cultures, welcome visitors, and discover how much the unfamiliar can feel surprisingly familiar," TIME magazine editors wrote.
