33 Apply For Associate Judge Position In Lake Co.
The vacancy is the result of an additional associate judgeship that was granted by the Supreme Court.

From the Chief Judge, 19th Judicial Circuit Court: Chief Judge Jay W. Ukena has received notification from Marcia M. Meis, Director of the Administrative Office of Illinois Courts, that thirty-three attorneys have filed their applications for the Associate Judge vacancy in the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit, in a timely manner. This vacancy is the result of an additional Associate judgeship granted by the Supreme Court.
In the coming weeks, the applicants will be interviewed by the Circuit Judges and evaluated by members of the Lake County Bar Association’s Judicial Selection and Retention Committee. The Bar Association will also conduct a poll with their membership on all candidates’ qualifications.
The public will have the opportunity to comment in writing, and should be addressed to: The Office of the Chief Judge, Lake County Courthouse, 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, IL 60085-4359. These letters will be accepted until May 8, 2018. After the review process is complete, the nominating committee of Circuit Judges will select the names of 2 finalists for the vacancy to be placed on the ballot. All Circuit Judges will receive individual ballots naming the finalists, which they will submit to the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts in Springfield. The Chief Judge is advised by the Administrative Office, after tallying is complete, as to which candidate received the majority.
