Al Roker In Hospital For Treatment Of Blood Clots

The Today Show anchor was admitted to the hospital last week with blood clots in his legs and lungs, he said on Instagram.

NEW YORK CITY — Al Roker, weather anchor on NBC's Today Show, revealed he's in the hospital after doctors discovered blood clots in his legs and lungs.

In an Instagram post shared Friday, Roker, who has been notably absent from the morning show recently, said he was admitted to the hospital last week.

"Last week I was admitted to the hospital with a blood clot in my leg which sent some clots into my lungs. After some medical whack-a-mole, I am so fortunate to be getting terrific medical care and on the way to recovery," Roker wrote.

In his post, Roker thanked everyone for the "well wishes and prayers."

Roker's colleagues were quick to send positive notes of encouragement.

"You’re the strongest person we know. We miss you and will see you soon!!" Savannah Guthrie wrote.

"Love you Al and praying every day for a speedy recovery!" Dylan Dreyer said.

Hoda Kotb also chimed in. "Al Roker-- hurry back to us... counting the days xoxoxo."

The popular anchor and TV journalist was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2020. Two weeks later, he had successful surgery to remove the lymph nodes surrounding his prostate, according to USA Today.
