Alliance for Positive Change Celebrates Healing, Creativity, and Community at “Voices” Poetry Reading

Annual Event Takes Place at Barnes & Noble - Union Square on Thursday, April 23

On Thursday, April 23, Alliance for Positive Change will transform Barnes & Noble – Union Square into a stage for powerful storytelling and resilience as poets from its Creative Writing Workshop share original works at a special public reading, unveiling its annual Situations poetry book. Through deeply personal poems and reflections, participants will illuminate journeys of healing, recovery, and hope—demonstrating the transformative power of creativity and community in the lives of New Yorkers affected by HIV and other chronic conditions.

Alliance is a leading multiservice organization that provides low-income New Yorkers living with HIV and other chronic conditions with access to quality health care, housing, overdose prevention, coaching, food and nutritional services, peer training, and more. The Creative Writing Workshop is one of Alliance’s innovative programs and presents a unique environment for healing.

The reading will feature personal stories of transformation from some of Alliance’s most talented and inspiring poets. Participants will share their amazing work from the latest issue of Situations—Alliance’s literary magazine. Free copies will be distributed at the event. The event is free of charge and open to the public, although guests are asked to RSVP in advance at https://AllianceBNUSQ2026.eventbrite.com.
