American Heart Association Announces Heart Ball Chairs, Honoree

Dr. Mary Ann McLaughlin to receive Heart of Gold Award for her legacy of service

The American Heart Association, the leading voluntary health organization devoted to a world of longer, healthier lives announced today that Paul Killion and Jerry Eisner of Compass One Healthcare will serve as Event Co-Chairs of the 2019 New York City Heart & Stroke Ball scheduled for June 12. That evening, Mary Ann McLaughlin, MD of Mount Sinai Heart will receive the Heart of Gold Award.

The 2019 Heart & Stroke Ball celebrates the volunteers, survivors and donors who bring the American Heart Association’s mission to life. This year, the event aims to highlight an important theme: Access to quality care, heart-healthy food and health education for all residents of New York City.

“It is an honor to serve as Event Co-Chairs for the 2019 Heart & Stroke Ball,” said Killion and Eisner. “Heart disease and stroke remain the number one and number five killers of Americans. By joining our resources, expertise and passion for the mission of the American Heart Association, we can improve the health of all New Yorkers. As leaders in our community, it is our responsibility to ensure that every New Yorker has access to quality care, nutritious foods, an active lifestyle and education that will help us all live longer, healthier lives.”

Mary Ann McLaughlin, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Cardiologist at The Mount Sinai Hospital, and Member of the American Heart Association’s Founders Affiliate Board of Directors, will receive the Heart of Gold Award for her decades-long commitment to the improvement of cardiovascular care for women, the elderly and multicultural communities.

“The American Heart Association provides unparalleled research funding, educational resources and advocacy efforts to reduce deaths from heart disease and stroke and I am honored to receive the Heart of Gold Award in New York City,” said Dr. McLaughlin.

The 2019 Heart & Stroke Ball will take place on Wednesday, June 12 at Cipriani 25 Broadway. American Heart Association’s Life Is Why NYC sponsor is Mount Sinai Heart; Compass One Healthcare is the Legacy sponsor.
